This project was conceptualized with the aim of better connecting people and conversations in a more convenient manner.

Why?

You are texting someone using different platforms. You then run out of phone credit to continue chatting with your phone’s text messenger but you do have Wi-fi for social media. This application feature gives you the option to highlight and respond to messages from your text messenger to your social media application.

Before we dive into how it works, here is a heads up

The badges in the header frames are meant to help visionally impaired individuals like people with color blindness to identify which application is being referred to.

Lisa is not able to send text messages to Kaban via the Blue app because he is out of call credit. Lisa would like to highlight a specific message to Kaban so she decides to message him on the Green app. Here are the simple steps she took to get it done.

Sending quote text

Step 1: He press and held the message he wanted to send to Lisa on the Green app. That prompted a pop-up modal to appear. Step 2: Select the “Reply elsewhere” option on the pop-up menu

Step 3: Click an application of choice that supports this feature. This opens up the person’s email or phone number linked contact on the selected application. Step 4: The application will be opened with the contact’s corresponding chat on the Green app. Type in your message or send the file.

Step 5: Click send. Your message will appear on your Green app as it would in the Blue app. This can be displayed as a screenshot or a screen-in-screen form depending on the technical preferences of the software.

The highlighted message in the Green app can be clicked to open up the particular message that was highlighted initially in the Blue app. Here is a demo of that below

Receiver’s point of view

Kaban (the receiver) gets the notification and clicks into the application. Here is his view point. Step 1: Kaban receives a message from Lisa’s Blue app highlighting a message he sent. Step2: Kaban decides to reply to the message and so he highlights it on his app (this is a common feature within all mainstream applications)

FAQ's

Why does Lisa not receive Kaban’s message on the Blue app?

The reason why Lisa does not receive Kaban’s message on the Blue app is because there was initially a reason why Lisa had to send the message to Kaban on the Green app.

How do the applications trace who person 2 is on app 2?

Email association. Person 2's email address acts as a link between the two apps to identify the users. If their email does not match, then their phone numbers can be used and/or the you (person 1) can select the chat they'd like to link to the chat. (what if for security reasons that isn't allowed and a “user not found or eligible for service” prompt is issued instead.

Side note

I think for an automatic experience, the email address is the most likely option and plus even if Kaban has multiple emails, they usually use their emails for certain purposes like one email for is personal usage, and one email for business. These email addresses are usually linked to corresponding phone numbers which serve the same or similar purposes as the email addresses.
